The Truro Shambhala Meditation Group is a group of individuals who gather to meditate together and who meet to connect with their basic goodness and rouse the confidence and courage to work with life in a way that can inspire people to their true nature and create a good society.

This is a group where everyone is welcome. People from all walks of life, faiths, and backgrounds come together to:

  • Learn to meditate
  • Practice meditation with others
  • Learn more about how meditation can apply to all aspects of life
    • Health
    • Relationships
    • Art
    • Household
    • Environment
    • Society
  • Participate in talks, classes and discussion related to meditation, contemplation and caring for the mind.
  • Meet and socialize with people who care about some of the same things indicated above.

The Truro Meditation Group meets weekly on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 PM. The group is self supporting. There is a fee for classes and a request for a donation of $5.00 per week. A generosity policy applies. People are invited to pay what they can.

Meditation is a way to make the mind more stable and clear. It is a practice that anyone can do. If we want to undo confusion, we have to be responsible for learning what our own mind is and how it works. The meditation that is taught is based in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition. It is similar to that taught in mindfulness awareness classes.

Care and Conduct

The Truro Shambhala Meditation Group is committed to a practice, study, discussion and work environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity. It is each person’s right to be free from harassment, mistreatment, and discrimination.
